Textile waste

A strategic resource for chemical recycling of polyester

Textile waste

Textile waste represents one of the main challenges and opportunities in the transition towards a circular economy in the fashion and textile sector. With millions of tons of textile waste generated annually in Europe and worldwide, there is a growing need for industrial solutions capable of transforming these post-consumer and post-industrial materials into new resources. In this context, chemical recycling of polyester offers a concrete, scalable, and sustainable response that overcomes the limitations of traditional mechanical recycling technologies.

Our process, developed in-house and available under a full licensing model with technical support and engineering packages, enables the depolymerization of textile waste containing PET to obtain purified monomers suitable for a new industrial life. This allows the recovery of material even from fabrics difficult to treat with mechanical recycling, such as mixed, colored, or contaminated with other polymers.

The key advantage lies in the ability to valorize heterogeneous textile waste streams, making it possible to regenerate polyester in its pure form. This solution is particularly suitable for companies within the textile supply chain aiming to close the production loop by integrating textile-to-textile recycling models, but also for logistics operators, sorting platforms, or consortia active in waste management.

The PETER technology

Thanks to the modular and scalable nature of PETER plants, it is possible to size the plant solutions according to local textile feedstock availability and production targets. Our plants integrate easily into existing industrial contexts, enabling a fast start-up and optimal efficiency, supported by comprehensive engineering know-how and an experienced team.

Investing today in advanced technologies for chemical recycling of textile waste means anticipating European regulations on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), seizing new business opportunities, and contributing to a more responsible, transparent, and circular fashion system.
